Rebag

Rebag buys and sells designer bags, watches, jewelry and more. On its selling page, Rebag says you can sell your items for upfront quotes. It also runs a trade program: you trade in a bag for Rebag Credit, worth up to 5% more, and pay the difference on a new purchase. Rebag's help center also has a section on consigning to Rebag.

Rebag only accepts products from the US, and all seller payments are in USD. Its accepted designers include Chanel, Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Goyard and Christian Dior. You can also find Rebag at select Bloomingdale's stores.

Fashionphile

Fashionphile buys luxury bags and accessories outright. Its selling page says: "We pay up front. No waiting for items to sell." You fill in an online form with photos, and Fashionphile emails you an offer within 7 to 10 business days. You can also sell in person at one of its locations.

After you accept, you ship the bag with a complimentary label or a free UPS pick-up. Payout is estimated at 2 to 4 days after your item is received and authenticated. You can take the money by check, PayPal, direct deposit or wire, or get a 10% bonus when you choose Fashionphile store credit or a Neiman Marcus gift card.

The RealReal

The RealReal sells luxury designer items, jewelry, watches, fine art and home goods. Its consignment agreement lists three ways to sell: consignment, Get Paid Now, where The RealReal buys eligible items for an offer price, and Trade-In for site credit.

The RealReal says it handles photography, pricing, customer service and shipping. Consignors must have a US-based address and bank account. On consignment you still own the bag after you send it in. The RealReal evaluates, inspects and authenticates it before listing. Your commission is the net selling price times your commission rate, which comes from The RealReal's published commission chart. Commission payments typically start processing on the 15th of each month for sales made in the previous month.

myGemma, formerly known as WP Diamonds, is a buyer of luxury jewelry, handbags and accessories, established in 2012, with an office in New York. It offers three ways to sell: sell directly, consign or trade in.

On a direct sale, you fill in an online form, get a quote, and send the bag with free, fully insured shipping or book an appointment at its New York office. myGemma advertises a same day quote and next day payment, with no fees or commissions deducted from the final offer. On consignment, it lists your item on myGemma and up to 20 other marketplaces, and pays you 35 days after the item sells. myGemma does not buy handbags in poor condition.

Vestiaire Collective

Vestiaire Collective is a marketplace where you list the bag yourself and sell to its buyers. Listing is free. When the bag sells, US sellers listing in USD pay a 12% selling fee on items priced between $83 and $16,667, plus a 3% payment processing fee (minimum $3). Items under $83 have a fixed $10 fee, and items over $16,667 a fixed $2,000 fee.

After a sale you have 7 days to ship. With Authenticated Shipping, the sale is complete when the bag passes Authentication and Quality Control at Vestiaire's warehouse. With Direct Shipping, the sale is complete 72 hours after delivery to the buyer. Vestiaire issues the payout within 24 hours after the sale is marked complete.

eBay

On eBay you list the bag yourself, as an auction or at a fixed price. In Women's Bags and Handbags, the final value fee is 15% if the total sale is $2,000 or less and 9% if it is over $2,000, per item. eBay adds a per order fee of $0.40 on orders over $10. Sellers with an eBay Store subscription pay a lower rate in this category: 13% up to $2,000 and 7% over $2,000.

Eligible handbags from select brands that sell for $500 or more go through the eBay Authenticity Guarantee. The seller is not charged for authentication. You ship the bag to an authentication facility in the US, and authenticators inspect it within two business days of receipt. eBay generally makes funds available within 2 days of confirming the buyer's payment.

On Poshmark you list the bag yourself from any device, and each shipping label comes prepaid and pre-addressed. Listing is free. For sales of $15 and above, the fee is 20% and you keep 80%.

Select luxury items that sell for $500 or more go through Posh Authenticate, which is free for both sellers and buyers. The item is sent to Poshmark's authentication facility, where checking usually takes 1 to 3 business days. If the buyer does not open a return case within 3 days of delivery, payment is released to the seller.

Facebook Marketplace

On Facebook Marketplace, Meta's seller protection applies to sales processed through onsite checkout, with shipped items sent on prepaid delivery labels issued by Meta. For sales through onsite checkout, Meta charges individual sellers a fee of 10% per transaction, with a minimum fee of $0.80. The fee is calculated on the whole transaction, including delivery fees and taxes.

Meta's seller protection covers items with a sale price of $500 or less, which matches the maximum list price for delivered items on Marketplace. Shipped orders must reach the carrier within seven calendar days. A bag priced above $500 cannot be listed for delivery on Marketplace.

How to Sell Your Designer Bag Online
