How to tell a real Zegna from a fake

The brand label is the first thing we check on Zegna: it has to show that Zegna made the piece, not only the cloth, and fit the era. The construction and the other labels then have to agree, so photograph the inside of the jacket as well.

Does a Zegna label prove a suit was made by Zegna?

Not always. Zegna has long sold its cloth to other tailors, so a label naming a Zegna fabric can sit in a suit Zegna did not make. We check the brand label, the construction and the finishing, not only the fabric label.

Did the Zegna label change?

Yes. The house moved from Ermenegildo Zegna to the single ZEGNA name around 2021, and labels changed with it. An older label is not a red flag, it only has to match the era of the piece.

Does Zegna have a serial number or authenticity check?

There is no public serial lookup. Zegna's digital product passport, with an NFC tag, is only on products made with its Vellus Aureum fabric and on its fragrances, so most Zegna items have none. Where one exists, it is one checkpoint, and we authenticate from the labels, the construction and the materials.

How can you tell if Zegna Triple Stitch sneakers are real?

Photograph both sides, the stitched detail across the vamp, the tongue logo, the heel tab, the insole and the box label. A professional authenticator compares each detail with verified references for that version of the sneaker and returns a verdict, Authentic or Fake.

Can you check Zegna before I buy it on eBay or Vestiaire Collective?
