FENDI CODE CHECK

Fendi serial number checker, place your bag by its markings

Tell us what is on the interior tag. The serial itself is optional, it only checks the format.

What is on the interior tag?

This checker does not tell you whether your Fendi is genuine. A serial number can be copied onto a fake as easily as it appears on a real one, and only a professional authentication can settle that. Have your Fendi authenticated by an expert

IN SHORT

What a Fendi serial number actually tells you

Fendi does not publish how to read its serial, so no tool can honestly turn one into a year. What the marking does tell you is the era: a printed or embossed serial with no sticker is before 2004, a holographic sticker is 2004 to 2010, and a sewn-in fabric pouch holding a chip is 2010 onwards. The changeover year in which a few genuine bags carry both markings is 2015, and only 2015.

The marking type places the bag in a period. It does not date it to a year and it does not prove it is genuine. The chip can only be read fully by a Fendi boutique or a specialist device, so a pouch being present tells you the era and nothing more.

WHERE TO LOOK

Finding the serial number on your Fendi

2004 Interior pocket, or a leather tab. No hologram and no pouch places the bag before the 2004 sticker era.
2004-2010 Interior leather tag or a small pouch. The hologram era. It gave way to the sewn-in chip pouch around 2010.
2010+ Interior seam pouch. The chip replaced the hologram. It can only be read fully by a Fendi boutique or a specialist device.
2015 Pocket plus seam pouch. The changeover year is 2015, and a few genuine bags made in it carry both markings. Outside 2015 the sources treat a sticker and a pouch together as near always fake, so this is a warning rather than a reassurance.
NO CODE

If you cannot find any marking

Check the interior pocket, the leather tab and the seams. The readable serial is printed or embossed on leather, runs 15 to 17 characters, and its first six characters are the model code. The sewn-in fabric pouch is a different marking and not a second place to look for that serial: it holds an RFID chip, and the chip's number is not printed on the outside of it. So a serial printed on a fabric label, rather than a pouch containing a chip, is worth a much closer look.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Fendi serial number questions

The things people actually ask us about Fendi serial numbers, answered by the team that reads them for a living.

Why will this not give me a year?

Because Fendi does not publish how to read its serial and no reliable public mapping exists. A tool that returns a Fendi year is inventing it. The marking type genuinely does place the era, so that is what this returns.

What does the sewn-in pouch mean?

It holds an RFID chip and it replaced the holographic sticker around 2010. Only a Fendi boutique or a specialist device can read the chip fully.

My bag has both a sticker and a pouch.

The changeover year is 2015, and a few genuine bags made in it carry both. Outside 2015 the sources treat a sticker and a pouch together as near always fake, so it is worth a close look at the rest of the bag rather than a reassurance.

Where should the serial be?

The readable serial is on leather, in the interior pocket or on a leather tab, and it runs 15 to 17 characters with the first six as the model code. The sewn-in fabric pouch is not a second place that serial appears: it holds an RFID chip, and the chip's number is not printed on the outside of the pouch. Characters printed on a fabric label are the thing to look at more closely.

Can I read the chip with my phone?

No. Ordinary phones can sometimes sense that a chip is present but cannot read what is on it. That needs the boutique or a specialist reader.

Does a hologram mean my Fendi is authentic?

No. Holograms are reproduced. The era it places the bag in has to agree with the model, the hardware and the lining.

My older Fendi has no sticker at all.

That is normal for bags made before 2004, which carry a printed or embossed serial and nothing else.

What are the first six characters?

The model code, which identifies the style. The rest is a production reference and carries no date.
