Are Items on Selfridges Authentic?
When we checked the US site in October 2026, we did not find a general authenticity statement for its new stock. It does publish how it handles pre-owned pieces, which is what an authenticator reads closely.
Its Reselfridges Pre-loved FAQ, read in October 2026, says these pieces come from outside suppliers and that "All of our pre-loved suppliers undergo a rigorous onboarding process," including a review of their authentication procedures and trading history. It says the edit "is independently curated by our in-house buying team and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the brands featured." If you doubt an item, customer service will start "a case-by-case review with the relevant supplier." Separately, for bags it buys from customers through Reselfridges Resell, its FAQ says it uses a third-party authentication tool to check them.
What you can check yourself: on a pre-owned listing, note the supplier, the condition notes and what comes with the bag. When it arrives, photograph it, keep the order confirmation, and compare the serial or date code, stamps, hardware and stitching with the listing. Most pre-owned pieces cannot be returned, so get any independent authentication done as soon as the piece arrives.

Prices are those of a luxury department store. On the US site in October 2026, the Fendi page listed sunglasses at $460 and $520 and leather knee-high boots at $1,390. In the pre-loved bags section, dollar prices among the first 60 listings ran from $430 for a Gucci GG canvas cross-body bag to $5,670 for a Chanel denim mini flap bag. Some listings on the same page were priced in British pounds, such as a Chanel Classic Single Flap bag at £3,200, so check the currency before you compare.
What is Selfridges' Return Policy?
The US site shows Selfridges' UK and international returns page. Read in October 2026, it says returns are free: you register a return at returns.selfridges.com within 14 days of delivery, then have a further 14 days to send the item back. The item must be "new and unused, with all the labels and tags intact, and in its original packaging." Its terms add that dust bags and authenticity labels must come back too, or no refund is given.
